In addition to detailed explanations of each of the Orders, decorations and medals awarded by Canada's federal and provincial governments, the text covers medals which can be presented to Canadians by the United Nations and N.A.T.O. There are also introductory chapters on the: development of honours systems; honours in Canada prior to Confederation (including the French Regime and British Orders, campaign medals and military decorations); and Canadian honours up to Canada's Centennial. There is also a chapter on failed proposals for medals such as the Canada Medal.
